This thing of the past All that is true dies This thing of the past All that is true dies It holds on to me This thing of the past What’s left behind? (Behind) All that is true dies All that is true dies Once // All // Have turned // to ash She finds // The remnants // Wish // To Speak They // tell // a tale // of her own life They // whisper// into// her ears All that is true dies All that is true dies A way forward // while // looking back A way forward // scared // of turning back All that is true dies All that is trues dies This thing of the past All that is true dies What’s left behind?

Defeated 05:50
They say, “I don’t understand how he gets out of bed” He stands out there, looking in Wondering how he’ll take another breath He feels defeated He feels defeated They say, “I don’t understand how she can show her face” She stands out there, looking in Wondering how she’ll live another day She feels defeated She feels defeated Desire, it’s all gone Heartbreak, she cannot feel anything Sorrow, he cannot feel anymore This ache, it retreats within me Nothing makes sense anymore We feel defeated We feel defeated
4.
An open room Nothing to hold onto The shape of things to come An ending Before it’s even begun Shallow waters Enough to drown Deception A call still unheard Trying to change But not a muscle moves We are alone In a crowded place Without a sense Without a purpose We are alone In our own embrace With no future With no love Our winding path A road to nowhere A journey With no destination We are alone In a crowded place Without a sense Without a purpose We are alone In our own embrace With no future With no love Our winding path A road to nowhere A journey With no destination

Nothing 03:46 video
What is being revealed to me Once extinguished Living between your worlds The wounded are now lost No one’s ever true We’re waiting to be saved. No one’s ever true We’re waiting to be saved. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. It was once something pure Our being immersed in this lore I saw us out there Reaching for this glory, Be our rescue Nothing. Nothing. All the way down here We are forgotten Seeking to be seen, like it was once The anguish rises up Something promised once Now taken away. Something promised once Now taken away. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.
6.
Thick clouds gather over me. How it came to be? Something missing inside of me. Why do you feel this way? Even the rain withheld. What would it take? A drop is all that I need. I would not wait. I see life slipping away. Let me hold your hand. Makes me want to lose myself All this while, we have been deceived We live another day (misled) These ways, are not for us, (misled) But the lost wander Roaming these streets, wander Make-believe, we cannot commit We’ve been robbed, no say But the lost wander Roaming these streets, wander Make-believe, we cannot commit We’ve been robbed, no say
7.
Our Failures 04:47
It seems we have nothing to say One step forward, two steps back Good intentions led astray An ally to a blatant lie They say we are too young Too angry, too sad But that is all we have You’ve taken everything They do have a lot to say About our failures, our missteps They want us to go away Though we have nothing left They say we are too young Too angry, too sad But that is all we have You’ve taken everything We do have a lot to say We’re angry, we’re sad We’ll take back everything Our failures mean nothing
8.
Silence 04:25
Say nothing, Sail away, They took it all again, What are we do with ourselves? We’re nothing but pawns in this game Another starless night ahead, A pretense of warmth carries us Emptiness, a barren land We are coming back Gone quiet, Screaming silence, Caged away What are we do with ourselves? Our sorrow is, nothing to them Another starless night ahead, A pretense of warmth carries us Emptiness, a barren land We are coming back We won’t be an accomplice to your contempt We’re coming back for you With a raging violence
9.
Her Thirst 04:28
Crafted carefully in her mind Things have been this way For however long that she remembers They promised it would liberate She quenches her thirst Crafted carefully in her mind Pain, agony, despair It gets blurry, she can’t look away They said it would free her ache She quenches her thirst They left with what they wanted She’s back there in the dark Will she ever be good enough? What will make her whole again? It’s too much for her to take She cowers back to a place she knows She quenches her thirst Even through this pain, She quenches her thirst In spite of her despair, She quenches her thirst Above all her pain, She quenches her thirst
10.
This instance makes us forget So you wallow in pain A feeling that makes you ache So you hold on some more This instance makes us forget So you wallow in pain So you wallow in pain

about

After releasing their five-song EP, Subtle, All That Is True sees HALLOWS drastically grow as a band. The album witnesses the duo explore deeper into sound design and atmosphere, taking risks and unorthodox approaches to their home-base of darkwave/post-punk. With the flair of Seattle producer Aaron C. Schroeder, All That Is True displays HALLOWS' growing maturity as a band and their desire to explore further into their genre, while pulling influence from an eclectic array of music and art.

While Subtle explored longing, loneliness, and sadness, All That Is True explores themes of searching for a purpose, coming to terms with loss, and garnering the strength to face adversity. The album was written mostly during times of unrest in Seattle (and the world) where both V and D experienced the brutality of oppression first hand. These experiences served as inspiration for much of this output, pouring out angst, rebellion, and the drive to march towards a brighter future. Though the album is not explicitly political, it explores the emotional journey of existing in an unjust world.
